Low Speed Wind Tunnels

Low Speed Aerodynamic Wind Tunnels are used to perform aerodynamic testing of airfoils, wings and full aircraft models at subsonic flight speeds. These wind tunnels are characterized by exceptionally high flow quality, specifically low turbulence and low flow non-uniformity levels. Aiolos can design low speed wind tunnels with multi-mission capability, including interchangeable test sections for cruise configurations, high lift and high angle of attack, and interchangeable model support systems, such as basic strut, crescent sting, articulated sting, half-model and 2D-model systems.

Aeroacoustic wind tunnels extend the capability of low speed wind tunnels to enable airframe aerodynamically generated noise testing. This requires employing an anechoic open-jet test section and extensive acoustic treatment throughout the wind tunnel circuit.
